Walt Disney toyed with the idea of having a live-action Alice explore an animated Wonderland, similar to the Alice Comedies starring Virginia Davis, Margie Gay, and Lois Hardwick. Color screen tests of Mary Pickford as Alice were made for a proposed live-action/animation version of the story.
